The Inaugural Flight marks the airline’s official entry into the North American market, and invites international icon Jackie Chan to commemorate their new route
Hong Kong Airlines is set to make its North American debut with the launch of its non-stop daily service between Vancouver, Canada (YVR) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) on June 30, 2017. To commemorate the airline’s entry into the Canadian market, beloved Hong Kong-born martial artist, Academy Award-winning Hollywood actor and world traveler Jackie Chan will be aboard the inaugural flight from Hong Kong to Vancouver on June 30, serving as Hong Kong Airline’s ambassador. On July 02, Jackie Chan will also be in Vancouver to see off passengers bound for Hong Kong.
As Hong Kong’s second largest airline serving more than 30 destinations in the Asia Pacific region, Canadians will now have greater access to Asia’s World City and beyond with this new transpacific route.
“With nearly 400,000 Canadians traveling to Hong Kong each year, we are thrilled to be able to offer direct access to the world-class city that is Hong Kong”, said George Liu, Chief Marketing Officer at Hong Kong Airlines. “Every day, on every flight, with every passenger, we will deliver welcoming service that evokes the spirit and excitement of Asia’s World City. As a distinctly Hong Kong airline, Hong Kong is truly embedded in the airline’s DNA.”
A trusted and well-known figure among North American consumers, Jackie Chan’s role as ambassador will help cultivate a global audience for the airline starting with Vancouver. In addition, his accomplishments as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF/UNAIDS, a celebrity cabinet member of the American Red Cross, founder of the Jackie Chan Civil Aviation Foundation in China, serve the airline’s mutual interest in philanthropic and charitable endeavors.
“We feel partnering with Jackie Chan offers a timely opportunity to establish an East-meets-West, cross-cultural connection for our customers, and it complements our truly Hong Kong brand as we are developing Western gateway cities. It’s a natural fit”, added Liu.
Hong Kong Airlines is proud to be the Official International Airline Partner of the Canada 150 at Canada Place celebration, taking place in Vancouver on July 01 to commemorate a new connection between the two world-class cities.
