Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, joins the ‘Top 10’ list of the Safest Airlines in the World, in the category ‘low-cost carriers’. AirlineRatings.com, a safety and product rating website, just announced its annual list of the world’s 20 safest airlines (and the ten safest budget airlines), after evaluating 409 carriers and their crash/incident reports, operational history, fleet age, and inspection reports from aviation governing bodies like the Federal Aviation Administration.
In its evaluation of low-cost carriers, AirlineRatings.com found that Flybe, Aer Lingus, Frontier, HK Express, JetBlue, Jetstar Australia, Thomas Cook, Virgin America, Vueling, and Westjet were the ten safest (in no particular order). These carriers have excellent safety records, and have all passed the stringent International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). They’re judged on 1,000 points, which is pretty intense.
