As of July 20, 2017, new screening measures are now in effect for all flights departing to the United States and its Territories.
Based in the Turks & Caicos Islands, interCaribbean Airways offers flights from its hub in Providenciales, as well as Tortola, BVI, to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Keeping Flights on time:
Passengers traveling to the U.S. and U.S. Territories will experience increased levels of inspection of personal electronic devices larger than a smart/cell phone, (laptops, tablets cameras, headphones etc.). Medical devices are exempt. Screening procedures may vary by airport.
With the new security measures in place, travelers have to allow additional time at the airport, and arrive early in time for their flight departures. Passengers, who are not in possession of a personal electronic device (PED), may still be randomly selected for additional security screening. Commencing October 26, 2017, all passengers will be subject to an interview at the check-in counter.
Tortola, British Virgin Islands
The Airport Authority will handle the screening of all flights departing from Tortola, including enhanced inspection of the above mentioned devices.
Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands
Providenciales is a busy airport, especially on the weekends. The new screening procedures will result in longer waiting times at security points, at check-in, as well as the boarding gate. Passengers traveling with electronic devices should allow additional time for screening, and plan on arriving one hour earlier to comply with new check-in procedures.
