Single Ticket Introduced for Passengers Traveling between Warsaw and Almaty
Air Astana is pleased to announce a codeshare partnership with Polish flag carrier LOT, effective immediately. Under the new agreement, Kazakhstan’s award-winning airline is now selling tickets for LOT direct flights from the Polish capital Warsaw to Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital, as well as onward connections across its domestic and international network. In turn, LOT is selling tickets for flights from Warsaw to Almaty, connecting via Astana. Tickets are being sold on a ‘single ticket’ basis.
“This codeshare agreement will build LOT brand recognition in the Kazakhstan market, and attract an increasing number of passengers, who will travel not only to Astana on a single ticket, but also to Almaty, the second major city in Kazakhstan,” said Adrian Kubicki, LOT Corporate Communications Director.
Susith Hettihewa, Air Astana Regional General Manager in Europe added: “We are excited about our new partnership with LOT, which will benefit both our corporate and leisure customers. We look forward to welcoming more visitors from Poland to the beautiful country of Kazakhstan. At the same time, we encourage travel from Astana and Almaty to the fascinating city of Warsaw – a place that everybody should visit at least once in their lifetime.”
In May 2017, LOT launched flights between Warsaw and Astana, using Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft, with a seating capacity of 186 seats in three class configuration (Business, Premium Economy, and Economy). This year, the route is also being operated on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, LOT’s latest narrow-body addition to the fleet (same configuration).
Currently, LOT service on the Warsaw-Astana route is available three times a week – Mon/Wed/Fri from Warsaw, and Tue/Thu/Sat from Astana. A fourth flight will be introduced later this month, on April 28, 2018, operating from Warsaw to Astana on Saturdays.
Air Astana has codeshare partnerships in place with a number of carriers, including Lufthansa, Air France/KLM, Hong Kong Airlines, Air India, Asiana Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Cathay Pacific Airways. In addition, Air Astana has 25 interline agreements with various airlines, including Delta Airlines, with through fares available from the U.S. and Canada.
These agreements allow Air Astana passengers to access a global route network through its partners, more flexible selection of flights and connections, as well as tariffs, to more than 400 cities.
