MAYA ISLAND AIR
Maya Island Air is Belize’s premier domestic commercial passenger airline headquartered in Belize. Established in 1962 as Maya Airways, it succeeded the government-owned British Honduras Airways, which ceased operations in 1961. On May 8, 1989, Island Air began operating similar services to San Pedro and Belize City. When the service requirements grew, Maya Airways and Island Air planned a merger to form Maya Island Air, which became a remarkable success in the aviation history of the region. the airline operates primarily from Belize City Municipal Airport and Philip SW Goldson International Airport.
