AASA
Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA)
The Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA), established in 1970, is a leading industry body representing airlines across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Indian Ocean Island states. With 17 airline members and over 40 associate members, including airports, air navigation services, and aerospace manufacturers, AASA plays a vital role in shaping the aviation landscape of the region.

AASA serves as a unified voice for its members, engaging with governments and regulatory authorities on key issues such as policy, safety, operational efficiency, charges, and infrastructure. This allows member airlines to focus on core operations while AASA advocates on their behalf for practical, fair, and sustainable aviation policies.
Recognized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), AASA is active in local and global aviation forums. The association also promotes environmental responsibility, supporting anti-wildlife trafficking initiatives and advocating for balanced approaches to climate change and carbon taxes.
AASA’s commitment to collaboration, representation, and sustainability makes it a critical partner in the development of air transport in Southern Africa. As a stakeholder-focused organization, AASA continues to strengthen regional connectivity and foster long-term growth in the aviation sector.
