Norwegian airline, Widerøe’s Flyveselskap AS, which flies under the trade name Widerøe (Wideroe in English), the largest regional airline in Scandinavia, joined ARC through AirlinePros. By becoming a member of ARC, the leading industry body which regulates and handles transactions between airlines and US-based travel agencies, over 13,000 ARC agents will now be able to issue Widerøe tickets directly for the first time.
“Widerøe was always well-respected for being a pioneer on many fronts,” said Christian Skaug, CCO. “I am really happy that with the ARC accreditation, which was made possible by AirlinePros, we now have the much-needed recognition too among travel professionals in the industry which will also vastly simplify our future collaborations.” Setting an industry bar, Widerøe aims to become a green airline, which will meet the Norwegian zero emissions target by being strongly engaged in the development of an electric aircraft for the Norwegian STOL* network, and have this ready for implementation from 2030.
